Michael died peacefully surrounded by family early Saturday morning, August 1st 2015 during the Blue Moon. He lived a full and remarkable life. Born in Egypt, and internationally raised, Michael was at home wherever he lived making lifelong friends who loved and respected him. Trained in the navy as a young man, he never lost his passion for the sea and new horizons. A lover of God, he opened his heart and home to countless people, most notably at the Levant Study Centre in Cyprus with Stephanie, his wife of 35 years. Michael was a long-time educator who never lost his passion for ideas and who embraced all life had to offer. He is survived by six children and eight grandchildren: Deborah (Taylor), Valerie (Ryan, Zoey), Madeleine (Chloe), Sarah (Caleb), Jewel (Michaela, Cole) and Timothy (a baby due late August) and was blessed with six great grandchildren: Jack (Zoey & Jon), Carter/ Emily (Chloe & Brent), Adelle/Ruby and a little sibling due late December (Ryan & Kerry).
